Creamy Tomato-Basil Sauce

Yields approximately 1½ cups

1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil  

3 cloves garlic (minced)

2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon dried rosemary

½ teaspoon granulated sugar

½ cup ricotta cheese

1 tablespoon heavy cream

Salt and pepper (to taste)

 

  1. In a saucepan, combine tomato sauce, oil, garlic, basil, onion powder, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and sugar. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Add ricotta cheese and heavy cream. Continue to simmer, stirring constantly over low heat, for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
