Garlic and Chive Bread

Serves 6

1 garlic clove (minced)

3 tablespoons fresh chives (finely chopped)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter (at room temperature)

1¼ teaspoons garlic salt

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon poppy seeds

1 loaf French bread (or see recipe: French Bread)

  1. In a bowl, combine garlic, chives, butter, garlic salt, red pepper flakes, and poppy seeds. Mix well.
  2. Cut loaf into 6 (1-inch) slices.  
  3. Spread mixture evenly over both sides of each slice. Wrap each slice in a piece of aluminum foil.
  4. Bake at 350° F (or place on a grill) for approximately 6-8 minutes. Serve immediately.
